Cerner Shadowing Session Application Form
(For New or Locum Medical Staff)

 

RH MSA is sponsoring new or locum medical staff who want to do on-site (at Richmond Hospital) shadowing with a medical staff colleague who is a Cerner Provider. Up to 2 hours of FEMS sessional payments for on-site shadowing at Richmond Hospital is available for approvals at the discretion of the RH MSA Executive based on eligibility and available funds.

 

Introduction: 

The Richmond Hospital Medical Staff Association (formerly Richmond Hospital Physician Society) works to foster meaningful physician representation to better serve our community of physicians, our patients and Vancouver Coastal Health. We aim to help create a culture at VCH where physicians have an active role in healthcare planning and decision-making.

Thanks to funding from the Facility Engagement Initiative (FEI), new or locum medical staff now have the opportunity to receive financial compensation for completing shadowing sessions to watch and learn the Cerner system and local workflow from a department Cerner user.

The fine print:

  • Payments are made electronically via VoPay and FEMS (Facility Engagement Management Systems). Physicians who receive sessional payment for a shadowing session are required to sign up for these systems. No cheque payments will be made.
  • Medical staff who receive sessional payment (both learner and teacher) for a shadowing session are required to complete a brief evaluation form (click here) to capture their feedback. We will add their names to FEMS after they submit their evaluation form for billing purposes. 
  • Funding is available for both learner and teacher as long as the teacher is not scheduled for a shift on-site or paid by other sources.
  • Once this application is submitted, the teacher will receive an email with this application and a link to Cerner Shadowing Session Application Form – Teacher. Please inform your teacher to finish this form.
  • Meals or other expenses will not be reimbursed by RH MSA for these Cerner sessions. Members will be paid for their time only.

  • The Application MUST be submitted at least 2 days BEFORE the scheduled shadowing session for processing.
