The initial work this group undertook was the creation of the Richmond Hospital Admission and Consult Pathway document, which involved several small group sessions with the key groups of physicians who do the majority of admissions/consults in the ED. The resulting document was passed at AMAC in the spring of 2019 and now serves as a template for all Emergency Physicians when making admission decisions. The working group then shifted its focus to the transfer of care between services when the needs of the patient have changed with 3 visioning sessions. It has been critical and valuable to have the involvement of the Hospitalist, Internal Medicine, ACE, Surgery, and Palliative Care groups.
