The working group meetings were very effective at bringing to the fore the ways in which staff can mitigate/respond to violence in the Emergency Department. A number of quality improvements came out of this working group, such as violence prevention posters, an urgent sedation kit for the department’s Omnicells, violence de-escalation training for physicians and staff, and increased visibility on the charts for patients with violence risks.
